Post-Doctoral Fellowship – PDF (Child Psychiatry)
Child and adolescent psychiatry is a unique branch in the field of psychiatry which requires specialized training as dealing with the psyche of a child is not an easy task. Their mind which is very complex but malleable can be easily damaged by the slightest trauma. PDF in child psychiatry was started in 2003 under the aegis of esteemed Dr Gowri Devi, who has 40 plus years of experience in dealing with children. The uniqueness of this course being that the psychiatrists are exposed to not only medical management but also psychotherapeutic approaches. They are thought the basics of family counselling so that the family as a whole can be pulled in the treatment of the child.

Recognition – Recognized by KNR university, Warangal, Telangana.
 

Outpatient – an average of 30 children visit the department for consultations

Inpatient – an average of 10  admissions per month

Guidelines of PDF (Child Psychiatry)

The PDF trainee is required to work on a full-time basis during this 1 year period.The PDF trainee will primarily function as a senior resident carrying regular duties and responsibilities in services, training and research of the department of Child Psychiatry.

Additional Requirement                   

(a) Carry out a small scale of research activity during the period and submit the report at the end of 1 year.
(b) Submit duly filled log book
(c) Submit case notes of two supervised Psychotherapies.

Attend Extramural Postings of PDF
(a) Pediatric Neurology – 8 outpatient clinics – 2 weeks
(b) Speech Pathology – 2 weeks
(c) Behavior Therapy / Family Therapy – 2 weeks
(d) Clinical Psychology – 2 weeks
(e) Child protection Services (CWC, JJ board etc.,) – 4 – 6 weeks

Eligibility:

  1. Post graduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) or PG diploma in the concerned speciality. The PG diploma candidates must have worked one year in a P.G centre/Institution and have submitted Project/Dissertation. Candidates who have studied in countries outside India and passed medical PG examination are also eligible to join, provided they produce the following certificates:
    • Equivalent certificates issued by MCI, New Delhi
    • Temporary registration certificate issued by MCI, New Delhi
    • Registration with Telangana Medical Council
  2. Age not exceeding 45 years of the year of admission
  3. Fitness: The candidate should produce a medical certificate of sound health issued by a civil surgeon

Stipend: For Non Sponsored candidates, Stipend equivalent to that of a senior resident in a government institution prevailing at that time will be paid to the fellow by the institute where the candidate is admitted for the fellow ship course. The University will not give any stipend to the candidates

Course fee: The annual course fee of Rs.36,000/- per candidate has to be paid by the candidate and demand draft should be drawn in favour of Registrar, KNRUHS, TS, Warangal payable at Warangal.

Admission is strictly based on merit as per marks in MD/MS and interview with 50 % weight age for each.

The date of interview for selection will be on 08-12-2023 and the candidates should reach the office of Asha Hospital by 11:00am.
