Women's Wellness

Gender differences are often seen in the rates of common mental disorders, with rates of depression and anxiety disorders more in women when compared to men. Psychological and social stressors are often more for women leading to increased psychological distress. Biologically, hormones play a role in the manifestation of disorders such as menstrual and menopausal related psychiatric disorders which are unique in women. Pregnancy and postpartum periods are times when women are more vulnerable for development of a new psychiatric illness or for exacerbation of old psychiatric disorders. Studies done on COVID pandemic have shown that women have alarmingly high rates of mental disorders as compared to before.
